OK now this is sort of big problem since it can destroy the transmission in a hearbeat.
Noticed this shift pattern at light throttle 1st, 2nd, 2nd prime, third... while running the predator.
Just went out and made a WOT run from a stop and it went 1st, 2nd, blips 3rd iand mmediately drop back to 2nd prime.
That dropping into 2nd prime at WOT (and from WOT) has probably destroyed more guys transmissions than any other cause.
Mine and a number of others tend to do that, but with superchips torque management it doesn't do that and behaves as is should on a WOT run 1st, 2nd, 3rd..
That's one of the key reasons a bunch of people want and NEED at tuner with trans controls and well behaved reduced torque management.
Are you guys aware of that 2ns prime trans issue with the rams ?
and do you have any ideas how to fix it?

RE: u7127 Trans downshifting back to 2nd prime from 2nd at W
I have not done any WOT pulls yet. I do notice that after I modified the stock tune with MDS disabled the 2-3 shift feels wierd. Almost as if it hits in to 3rd with no TM. A very slight jerk.
I only changed the MDS feature nothing else. This only is 2-3 shift. I have only done partial throttle no heavy. I was waiting until I install the srt stuff for boost.

Um, this is not good news...
RE: u7127 Trans downshifting back to 2nd prime from 2nd at W
I'm not sure this a problem with the tuner specifically. After I removed superchips and had either the stock tune with PSC or the SCT tune this began happening. I have a feeling it has to do with tire size at it's effect on rpm and mph in relation to the shifting schedule. Just a guess though. I'm waiting for all this stuff to get sorted out like I did with SCT before I give diablo a try.

Dont be reluctant
If you pull out sc and update the 7137 then flash your truck, just install the 93 octane, and a/f only if needed. Let DS work out the issue with the tool and writing to the tcm. The canned tune will be very satisfying. At baseline, it is tuned for higher octane, does not effect idle, and covers the cai. It's a better canned tune than the former. Personaly , it was worth the wait, It;s a whole new truck. When they resolve the tcm issue, which they are now working on, you can just update the tool at the site, and then you;ll be on the road.
I think the benefits of the canned tune outway the speculation over it.
If you dont like the tune, put it back to stock, go the the flashpaq site, update there tuner with the latest database, and you will be able to install that tune again. Nothing ventured, nothing gained ...

Yes it's a problem that guys running superchips may never realize they had if they always ran superchips.
I noticed it back when I had my TC installed which was after the 4.56 gears and I'd removed superchips because I a dealership guy that did the TC and had him tweak some things with the starscan at the same time.
To confirm what it was doing I data logged runs with rpm and mph while calculating TC slippage and it's was obvious it was trying to go to 3rd but falling back to 2nd prime first.
One easy test to to take superchips back to stock and see if the trans behaves or not. The root of the problem is that the stock PCM just can't deal wit mods very well. Not a fault with tuner just something they haven't figured out how to correct for. (yet)
If the stock pcm tune was any good in the first place everybody wouldn't be running tuners.
and Greg yep thats sort what mine feels like at light throttle its sort of as if the TC unlocks then re-locks but what it's really doing is going from 2nd to 2nd prime and that's only 0.17 diff in gear ratio. Don't think there is any harm at at light to med throttle. just look for it at WOT and if it's happening avoid doing it especially if have much more than stock HP.
At WOT it'd be easy to mistake it for a hard engine miss but you'd know it when you get slammed with a bunch of power instead of the normal lame 3rd gear and if you watch the tach it starts about 5k flies through the gear and then goes to 3rd.
Depending on your gear ratio and tire size, at WOT it might not even try to hit 3rd till 70+ mph.
I did that a bunch of times with a stock motor - stock steet tires with no harm but guys modded up need to be much more careful and don't let it do that many time and def don't do it on drag radials. street tires will break loose and limit the shock a little.
