Did I buy the wrong PREDATOR

I bought a Predator off Ebay asuming it was a U7165. I got it today, hooked it up and it said something like it wasn't compatible with my truck. The sticker on the box is from Granatelli Motor Sports, part #990617 and it says 2003 Ford Truck/SUV 6.0 Diesel, Predator FLS Tr. I have a 2004 F-250 6.0. The sticker on back of the unit says Ford 6.0. Am I S.O.L, or is there something I can do? I'm new to DiabloSport so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What is the revision on the predator, you can see that on the main screen right at the top.
Might need to update the unit, http://www.diablosport.com/index.php?mo ... lay&pid=15

I have yet to try anything. I'm not even sure what cable I need to upload to the unit. I can use all the help I can get. Thanks.

I use the 9 pin to usb on mine..once you get your port settings correct its not that hard to understand the rest.You will need to download the diablosport downloader from the downloads page.This is what you use to transfer the files with.If you follow the link Johan posted above it will take you to the page where you need to be.REMEMBER TO INSTALL YOUR TRUCK BACK TO THE FACTORY SETTINGS ALWAYS BEFORE LOADING ANY FILES TO THE PROGRAMMER. I use an adjustable power supply from radio shack with the multiple settings for the power and plugs that plug into the top of the programmer.Set it to 12 volts ,Make sure you set the plug with the polarity in the correct direction.THIS IS ONLY IF YOU WISH TO POWER UP YOUR PROGRAMMER IN HOME<<RATHER THAN USING YOUR OBDII PORT IN YOUR TRUCK.NOT BOTH AT THE SAME TIME>.If you need any more assistance ,send me a PM .I know the first go round with these units can be difficult to understand.

Well I'm sitting outside in the truck, in the snow tring to do this. My cable didn't come with a driver CD. I downloaded the driver software off the forum page, but when I try to connect for the revision it keeps telling me no tool was detected. Now I'm really lost!

did you download the revision update instructions? On the older units that will not auto connect..Open the Diablosport downloader..at the bottom ..click on express tune..top of that section ,click options..in the drop down click on Legacy connect..Make sure compressed send is not checked..then select send crom to tuner. Did you download the latest crom file update?I think its the 9r05..

Downloaded the newest revision. While trying to put it on the unit it now says Cannot load power_6_0 application into ford_6_0 tool. Anybody know what that means?

This is an OLD U7160 (990617, drop the 99, turn the rest of the number around).
This tool is basically unsupported unless the 03-04 truck you are trying to tune has not been to a dealer in like 2 years.

Best option is to send it in for our hardware upgrade, for $99 plus shipping we will upgrade it to the U7165 part number and allow it to work on any 03-07 6.0.

Like I said, if the truck has been updated by Ford inthe past 2 years or so, r45 will not work, but you can try if you like.
