2014 Dodge Charger Failed to read back up

Post by patrickp3 »

I could use some help. Using the I3 and I have 2 2014 Chargers one is a Pursuit and the other is an RT. I am trying to disable my MDS on the RT. I purchased a secondary license for this and made it thru the Initial back up but as soon as I try to make any changes I get a read error on the backup. To the best of my knowledge there has never been any tuning initially done on this vehicle. I have no issues making any changes on my pursuit for what it is worth.

On another note when I purchased this tuner a few years ago I purchased the platinum version. I only ever used the tuner to disable mds since my motor had the delete done on it. And never dove any deeper. After getting a little deeper into my Tuner its looking like I never received a platinum version. I can't remember when exactly when I purchased it but I did purchase it from Amazon. Not sure if anything can be done about it but it would be nice to have what i originally purchased.

Any help is appreciated.

99% of the time an issue with a failure to read the backup on any 13/14 model is due to it having been previously tuned. More specifically, the bootloader was previously swapped but wasn't put back, and the device does not know how to replace it to unlock it.
Give us a call, we can troubleshoot and confirm, and if needed, we'll let you send the pcm here to have the correct bootloader installed so the tuner will work. If it is the bootloader, sending it here is the only solution.
