Just installed 93 Oct tune to Stage 2 SRT-4

Hi folks,

I have an 2005 SRT-4 with a Stage 2 w/o Toys upgrade, Mopar CAI, and Mopar exhaust. That's it. Everything is hooked up as stock and/or recommended. Running California 91 Oct gas.

Got my Predator last night and of course within 30 minutes of opening I had to install the supplied 93 Oct tune.


The unit came with Rev. 9R09 but since I don't have the USB kit yet (on order) I couldn't update it. Decided to proceed anyways to see what would happen.

I'm not tuning expert mind you. This was absolutely a simple process. The unit walks you through the steps explicitly. It tells you when to have the ignition on and off and holds your hand the whole way. Very cool!

Drove the car to work today which is comprised of 10 miles of city, 30 miles of highway, and 5 miles of curvy mountainous roads. In the city, you wouldn't know anything has changed (which concerned me at first...). Ditto on the highway at first. Then I stomped on it at 70 mph in fifth gear. Car took off as normal and boost built up on gauge to twenty and held and held and held. Next thing I knew I was well above the legal speed. I quickly slowed down with a smile of my face.

Typically my Stage 2 will spike to 19 lbs of boost and then generally drop and hold to 15 or 16 psi. Those numbers are only valid on colder days as the density of the air has a real effect (warmer equates to less boost pressure.)
Today was cool but not cold enough for those numbers normally. The ability to hold 19 and 20 lbs of boost are most definite attributed to the Predator. Very cool indeed.

Possibly dangerous too. Without a wideband, I don't know if I'm running lean or not at those numbers. So with the new tune I really have to watch that I don't over boot until I can confirm that I'm at a safe level. BTW, I could easily now boost right past 20 PSI (right off the gauge) if I wanted to. I won't and don't recommend that anyone does. But it is evidence that this little unit has reprogrammed the ECU.

Question. I believe I can buy canned tunes that more closely reflect my modification situation. Assuming that's true, whom can I go to and is there anyone on this board that can help me out with that? Let me know how much you would charge and what you need from me.

Back to the unit. So far I'm very pleased and can't wait to play with it some more.

Awesome glad to hear it.. Might want to put a Wide Band on though.. As for the boost level and holding thats standard. Sounds like it's working just the way it was intended to!

I wouldnt "hit it" in 5th... just downshift, it'll be better for the car lol..

I have the same modif than Landmizzle , My stage-2 wastegate Have about 8 mm Preload, with the predator tune , i only boost 15-16 psi, at the begining i was boosting 20 about like you , i dont have boost leak too. but the temperature is under the freezing point, is that why ? ? ? the ecm turn down the boost if the temperature is cold, or is may be because the car get too learn ? ?

Im gonna give you my wideband result next week as soon as i install it this weekend ......

Yes but you had a stock computer with a stage 2 WGA. He has a Stage2 PCM and WGA. Big difference.

stage 1 computer with stage 2 w-g ......

but stage 2 come with bigger injector 677 instead of 577 something like that i think.... but still the same thing after the predator tune load, i should boost more that 15 psi or maybe im limited because of my injector size ? basicly im boosting the same thing with my stock tune than predator tune since we are under the freezing point.... that weird...

The S2 injectors are 682cc injectors rated at 58 psi fuel pressure. The difference between the two (S2 PCM and S1 PCM) is that your S1 PCM is only made to run really up to 16 psi. The computer normally won't let you boost to 18 or 20 psi if you are on stock lines since you have a 2.25 bar MAP/TIP sensor. The S2 however comes with 3 bar MAP/TIP sensors and is made for higher boost applications. It won't freak out when the boost goes over 18 psi like the stock and S1 PCM will and pull timing away from you.

That is probably where your problem lies.

Either you will need to get a 3 bar MAP/TIP and ask Diablo to send you a tune that has it calibrated for the larger sensors or keep the boost below 18 psi.

I could be wrong, but I am willing to bet that is your problem.

So Brian, You know me so well since we did a couple of test ..... Should i put a 3 bar to boost to 20 psi..... ? or im okay like this setup ? .... Wideband comming. Had trouble to find the pod to fix it ..... i found one for 35 $ order.... <<:-)

found a problem too.... CAI AeM is shit .... near 20 psi, the rubber to the turbo bend ... dont buy this one, i gonna try to fix that with a stenless steal solid hose like the k&n

with a 2.25 Bar (18.5 psi map reading) How much max boost i can go before the ecm back off timing ? or it really doesnt matter the way you program the ecm with diablo, it wont ? (Just have to be sure im okay with my wideband .....) a lot a poeple claim you cant boost more than 18.5 with 2.25 bar map sensor, (If the sensor read 18.5 psi and your in fact at 20 psi can it hurt someting ....or pull timing ?


Well the problem i have with my diablo, as soon as the boost pass 31.88 (17 psi about) reading on the datalog (seem higher on my gauge but maybe is not accurate) i have 3 to 5 deg knock retard and the boost fall to 12-13 psi. does the ecu use knock to pull timing when your boost to high or you miss gaz or is not related...... ? because that seem to be my problem when im loosing boost.


To look spark advance or retard , you check Base Spark ex : 20 deg and spark cyl 1 26 deg (That meen i have 6 degree av from base map) ?

5000 to 6000 rpm Im about 22 to 27 deg timing .... with 93 perf tune
