Text illegable, can't read.

I have the Predator U7193 for a 2005 GMC Sierra 5.3. I can't read the revision.
My problem is that I can't read the text on the LCD screen. It's all jumbled up. I tried the contrast control on the back, and that's no help. I even looked at the Diagnostic link connections to make sure they were clean and free of dust and contaminants. I just bought this on the Nov 18th. I just tried to install it yesterday twice. I have a friend with a Camaro SS with a Predator tuner, and he made sure I was doing it right. Any thoughts? Do I need to send it back for another, or get it repaired?
