Power Puck power increase?

Hey guys I just got the PowerPuck for xmas 98.5 24v Cummins 5 speed K&N filters 6in tip Part#D7153, just wondering what the power curve was and the increase in black smoke is and the best way to get the full effect of it such as minor modifications like bigger exhaust turbo back and possible bigger tip.

Brittany, I don't think a tip will do anything for you. With exhaust, you are limited by the most restrictive point. That could be the muffler, the overall diameter at the smallest point on the exhaust, a Catalytic convertor (which I don't think you have), etc. So in your case, if the stock pipes aren't 4" then improvement can be gained there, or if you are running a stock muffler, an aftermarket free flowing one could improve performance as well. That will let the engine breathe out easier. You already have a K&N filter but is it in the stock airbox and intake downtube? If so, you could see improvements by changing out to an aftermarket one that is a cold air intake and a free flowing downtube. That will let the engine breathe in easier. Since you have a puck already, the next things I would suggest is a Predator programmer and an aftermarket wastegate for the turbo. This will allow changes in the timing and increase your boost from the turbo. With all this, your going to start having to be careful about your transmission and the exhaust gas temps. Start with the exhaust and intake with the puck. You shouldn't have any issues running that combo and it's stuff that should be done anyway if your going after bigger gains in the future. See how it feels after that, then go from there. Good luck.
