HOW DO U DOWNLOAD A TUNE??

I just got my predator and usb. How do I download tunes ? And what do all the abreviations mean ect. rkl, v.8r29, puff........I dont understand anything. How did everyone else figure this out?

The u7130_cummins-9r04 (CROM file) is the latest update that should be loaded onto your Predator, it has the latest CAL ID's for your truck. The RKL and PUFF tunes are extra tunes that can be added to your Predator as an option. You already have the standard tunes that you need included in the CROM file. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

thanks rompnjessi, Im sorry but i still dont understand how to do anything. So....i need to download the 9r04? Seems like the more questions i ask the more confused i get.....lol. I dont know how consumers figure all this out.

Have you read and downloaded http://www.diablosport.com/index.php?mo ... structions ? And have you downloaded http://www.diablosport.com/CMR/software ... .1.0.6.exe ? This is the program you need to load the CROM file onto.

do i have to download my trucks stock tune from my predator back onto my truck before i update or download any new tunes from the internet to my predator?

I don't use the RKL or Puff tunes but I believe you can just overwrite the Predator stock tunes, when applying to the truck.

Yes if you want to use the RKL tunes you need to put them on to your predator and have a predator tune on the truck. If you put your truck back to stock tune you will loose those rkl tunes off the tool, and would have to put them back on again.
So the 7130 comes with 3 tunes, and will hold the rkl ones. You have to have a predator tune installed on the truck before you can use the rkl. Hope I have not made things worse for you. I know how you feel.

thanks rram, I just dont understand all of this.....maybe just to complicated for me, I have decided to just sell my power puck and predator to someone more intelligent than me. lol.... but thanks for trying to help. its really very simple,if ur not very computer oriented get ur kids to read and do it,for now just plug the pred into ur truks obd port and afolow the directions,its all there,it will do it for u,load performance and be done with it,then after u read more try some other ones,performance is a good all around tune for a stock truk,dont sell it,the edge wont be any easier and u will prbaly have to get somone to install all the plugs and sesnsors,i think that would be more complicated and it has updates and stuff to so u will neeed to learn that one too,the pred works well on the 03-05 truks,when u get her loaded u will love it

hello again duallydave, well.....i dont have any kids I have finally figured out how to install a tune on my truck. I installed the tow tune first, seemed ok, today I installed the extreme tune, I was afraid to do much...got lots of black smoke when i floored it, but just drove out the road 5 miles and back, scared to hurt my truck. I installed the stock tune back in my truck so I could try to download new tunes off of the website. No luck with that yet....I gave up earlier this evening. I have no gages yet either.

Install the stock tune before DLing a crom file (revision) but you don't have to install the stock tune before DLing a custom tune file. 8r29, 9r03 etc are revisions and you only use the appropriate custom tunes for your rev. - like pre r28 or post r28 tunes. The first time is the hardest and then it gets easier really fast. I'm a major computer idiot and I felt the same way as you til I figured it out. I was ready to trash mine but now I'm VERY happy with it and all the custom tunes. Do you have any gauges - at least a pyro? Have you tried the Perf/econ tune yet? That will probably be all the egt your truck can handle if the turbo and muffler are stock. That one is perfect for towing with my mods. You might as well keep the Predator now that you have it and run Tow or Perf until you do some other mods. Craig

ya as stated above with a stock truk with no gauges i wouldnt go anything more than performance,if u loaded tow and extreme then u can load performance too,so install perfornace and run it for awhile,its a great tune for a stock truk,i wouldnt even bother with downloading croms or custome tunes if u dont have gauges or some tranny work done f its an auto,the rkls will kill ur tranny quik if its an auto,just load performance and try it for awile,u will like it,mite even get some mpgs from it,some do some dont,the performance tune itself is worth the 240 ur asking for the stuff,just try it for a week and let us know

thanks cschomer, and duallydave, my exhaust should be here this week, but its just a MBRP 4" cat back. I have installed a K&N intake. I have my truck on the performance tow tune right now......soooo....what am I doing to my truck with the tow tune on it and I flip the puck switch between 60 and 90 hp? My truck also is an 2005 with 100,000 miles on it. What trannys do u guys reccomend for a replacement? My truck is a daily driver and also used to tow on the farm and for my job. Before I got the predator and just had the puck, I kept the switch on 60 hp and pretty much get 18.3 to 19.7 mpg. Again, thanks guys for taking time to talk to me about the programmer. It is pretty confusing.

hey aliffs,glad u got her workin,theres 3 tunes on the pred,tow,performance/economy and extreme,are u on tow or perfprmance/economy?either one is good,i prefer perfformance but if u tow the tow tune would be a good choice,u can flip the swithc on the puck with tow or economy installed no probs,the puck is a presure only chip,it adds presure to your rail,and adding presure gives u beter thorttle resonse and some say milage too,u dont need a tranny replacemnt,is urs an auto?if so a valve body and flexplate would help if u wanna run extreme or higher,if u just use ur truk for work and towing i wouldnt bother with downloaading any tunes from here,the custom tunes from here are geared for high hp and not towing,u would cook the engine towing with a rkl tune installed,even stock its a good idea to have some gauges,i would have at least a pyro which measures exhaust temps,they can climb in ahurry with a extreme tune installed,and fuel pres would be good to,you dont want to starve the rail,but running tow or economy you wont starve it,if u run the rkl tunes u probaly will,until u get some gauges i would only play between the tow and economy tunes,u should notice a dif in power with either of them and maybe some mpgs too.this site is awsome for answers,theres some smart guys on here,the pred is a good tool and u should like it as is without downloading the high hp tunes.
