Mileage upgrades

Post by ranger_dog »

Well this isn't a power question but since mileage comes up here often, I though I would throw these questions out there. I drive my truck a lot. I am always looking to add stuff that saves money but I also know you'll never recoup it with the cost of some of the mods. So, if they have other usable functions, ie. increased durability, I still consider them. Here are a few of the ideas I have been tossing around to try to gain mileage and function. I'd like to hear opinions on any of them. 1. Dynatrac freehub kit 2. Either changing to a 68RFE tranny or adding a GearVendor under/overdrive and changing rearend gears. 3. Flexilite electric fan kit 4. SRT 10 functioning cold air intake hood 5. Buying a Jetta TDI and building a bad ass truck, to hell with mileage! (fun to say but not possible) :) Let the discussions begin!

tape one to both pedals, then you really get good mileage. Second one forces you to utilize the enertia in the truck and coast longer distances before stopping. That's how I got my over head reading 29.6 one day. I thought that was funny to see!

Have u thought of putting full synthetic fluids in your motor and diffs? may not be a huge increase but it should help some.....I like that on both pedals haha

rule of thumb. if you see black smoke you are wasting fuel.

I ran the predator and predator stack with puck and it wasnt my most successful mileage gaining programmer or box. they made lots of power but lots of smoke as well

Well, I don't know what is the best tuner for gas mileage out there for the Dodge, but out of the Edge, Bullydog, and Superchips, it was the best one for power and mileage on an 08 Ford 250. I totally agree with the statement about black smoke though. I only get it when I am getting on it though, and then I am expecting power not fuel economy. No smoke when crusing with a light foot.
