Predator Tune Making Little Difference on '09 Super Bee

Post by JeepDodgeRam »

I dyno'd my '09 Dodge Charger SRT8 today.

Max HP stock was about 360 (Red). Torque was about 370 lb-ft.

Results with 93 Octane CAI Predator were nearly identical (Green). Modest gains (1-2 hp) in the low end, but max HP was still 360.

We noticed the Predator was making the A/F ratio even richer than stock. Is the Predator supposed to do that??!

Thanks for any info.

No, it should not be richer than stock...

These results are all over the place, why do 2 runs overlay, and the black run is much higher?
Are you sure the balck run is not the tuned run?

Where is the A/F info, cant say much without seeing that?
Did you monitor KR?
Have good fuel in the tank?
Did the car get hot on the dyno and go into COT?

The two runs that overlay are the stock tune and the Predator 93 CAI tune. Brent at Dyno-Tuned Performance had the same reaction and checked the Predator to make certain it had installed the tune.
The black run is the Custom tune they installed.

I don't have the specific A/F info in front of me, but I remember talking about the stock A/F being about 11.5/1. Brent said the Predator tune was slightly richer and the timing was advanced a couple degrees. The custom tune A/F was somewhere around 12.3-12.4/1. I can check the specific number later...
We also talked about seeing significant knocking with both the stock and Predator tunes, but I don't have the specific numbers. Nor do I know if the knocking continued with the custom tune.
I had filled up with BP/Amoco 93 Octane right before the testing.
And yes, the engine got hot on the dyno and we had to wait 20-30 minutes between runs to cool it down.

Thanks again!

Ive been wondering about the COT also. Would it bad to actually turn it off in the tune or is that possible?? Since its just a guessing game for the PCM to actually know the temp of the cats I would think turning it off wouldnt hurt so the COT wont kick in all the time.
