Gray exhaust pipes.......ever?

Post by rnoswal »

After doing some tuning and tweaking, is there ever the chance that my 2005 GTO will have a maintained light gray exhaust color. Right now it is pretty dark, rich, but after sending my log in from my data, it was said that my numbers looked pretty good. Both ltfs were between 0 and -2 as prefered.

I kinda thought that with fuel injection as modern as it is, a gray color would be easily attainable. I remember getting that color on my carburetted engines with some work but it wasn't too hard. I did notice on the real time data that the AF mixture was always 14.75, never higher nor lower. Maybe that is optimal, but seems like a little more air/less fuel couldn't hurt.

Sorry to ramble. Any comments on this?

Thanks

Russ

maybe there's an issue with your car itself...

There weren't really any problems before the tune and it seems to run pretty well after the tune. I don't have any o2 codes , well I don't have any codes at all and haven't since I've owned the car. I have noticed the exhaust getting darker the more I drove it before the tune. I had heard that these cars were tuned fairly rich at wot and I have a heavy foot, but can show restrain when needed too.

I am curious about the afr and its constant number at 14.75, unless that is an absolute number and the engines tunes itself from that number, can it be adjusted. After the peramters were changed to a 91 octane tune, then even tweaked more with the 93 octane fuel here, I can run a log and post it to let you see what you think. The power is great and it sounds great. Temps are good too.
