bad milage with u7164 9r09

Post by greggandsons »

2008 f250 6.4
version 9r09
cal id - unit 1: 8U7A-14C204-CF
unit 2: 7U7A-14C337-AB

Max avg mpg is 10.5. It fluctuated between 10.4 and 10.5. I used to do around 12.8 or better before taking it to the ford dealership. I put a dpf-r in the truck. I would like to find out if it is the predator doing this. How do I find out?

If you have removed the dpf I cant really say how the truck shgould react as that is not something we have tested these tunes with...

update?

Post by greggandsons »

Hey Mike,
Is there an update that you could email me that came after the 9r09. I have seen that you have emailed people in the past with a 9r09b or something. Should I keep the9r09 or try a newer update? I am really concerned about the gas mileage. It doesn't make sense that it is the dpf-r kit that I installed. Also, the tunes don't seem as powerful as they were before I sent my truck into ford and updated to 9r09 afterwards. Anyway, you do not have to talk about the kit, just let me know if you have any suggestions in reference to the predator. Any input would help to take care of the above problems.

9r09 is the latest I have.

I hate to say it, but the tunes in 9r09 (80 and 160HP) were both redone for MORE power output, so if you are feeling less power, I have to wonder what is going on.

Also, none of the other feedback we have gotten points to less power or a lack of mileage gains, I have guys picking up +5 MPGs.

milage

thanks mike. I was afraid of that. I am trying to contact the manufacturer of the delete but they really suck at getting back to people. I have talked to someone else who has the same setup as me and his is doing great. Thanks for the fast response. Gregg

running 80hp tune in my 6.4 getting about 17-18 mpg found the 50 hp to be the best at 18-19 mpg

I would be interested to hear what they have to say. Could you get some specs of exactly what that thing is doing to keep the truck happy without the DPF?

We have an 08 F250... we get 10.5 with the 160hp tune; it sucks!!! I 'returned the truck to stock' and took the truck to the dealer to have the PCM flashed...Ford Recall!!! The Regin cycle on the PCM was set to start at idle, so Ford is haveing the 08s flashed to reset the 'regin' feature so it will begin while the truck is being driven. That's the history...

Problem... yesterday we returned the truck to stock, took it to the dealer, brought the truck back to the shop and attempted to re-install the DS (U1764)... we're getting an error code... "packet not available"... so I drove to Dallas without my DS, was getting 12.5 MPG on the way to Dallas, and then got 10.4 MPG on the way back... We tried setting the 50HP tune, no down load, so we tired the "Performance Tune"... the DS is now reading "Can't perform tune without dynamic cuts".

Aside from getting our tuner without the initial programming, then having to buy the cables to get the programming, and now not being able to "re-tune" our show truck...I'm a little frustrated...but happy with DS when it's working.
