Copper plugs VS. Iridium plugs in a HEMI

Post by Harmwalker »

Just wondering if anyone out there uses Iridium plugs in their HEMI's? If so, how do you like them?

This is a direct quote from the Lithia Dodge dealer I bought my truck from. "The Hemi's just seem to like the copper Champion plugs that come stock. More so than the platinums and iridiums for whatever reason."

Just wanted to hear some thoughts on that subject.

I do not have any experience with the truck apps and iridium's but on the LX platform they seem to preform well.
Not sure if they have any performance increase over the coppers, i doubt they do.

Although Iridium is a slightly better conductor than Copper. Platinum is an equivalent conductor to copper but lasts longer. So if you buy platinum plugs, they may last longer but you do not get any performance boost. Iridium may give you a tiny boost but hardly noticeable by the average Joe. Only a dyno would be able to tell and even then there are too many variables between dyno runs. I run Iridium plugs in all my toys. My 2-stroke Ski-Doo used to foul plugs regularly if you primed the engine too much... the damn thing flooded so easily. I switched to Iridiums and the darn thing has never flooded or fouled a plug since. Go Figure

I have them E3's i cant honestly say they made a difference except in COnstant spark reliability which is unmeasurable.

It felt better but that means nothing since my times as of latley havent reflected gains.
