Predator/Power Puck combo EGT's HELP!!

I was accelerating quite briskly getting on the freeway today and noticed that by the time I was at the top of the on-ramp,,,,my EGT's were through the roof!! I was exceeding 1600* and climbing. I let off the throttle and it started to come down quite quickly. I tried the same thing on the tow setting with the puck at 90HP and it did the same thing. I also tried the tow setting with the puck on stock and again the same result. Just curious how much of this heat my engine can handle or what I'm doing wrong.
