Part #- U7135
Revision #- vR902
07 JGC SRT8

i purchased a predator 2nd hand from Jerry Tubbs, he did the tune removal improperly, sold his Jeep and now i have a locked unit. from searching i see i can sent my predator in to DS for a hardware upgrade and to be unlocked for $150 dollars OR Jerry says he can unlock it from his computer...is this possible?

2ndly, if i send my unit to DS and they upgrade the hardware and unlock it, do i lose the tunes already uploaded to the unit?

Any tunes on the unit are gone. When its returned to stock all custom tunes are deleted. Plus any that were on there were VIN Specific anyway.

Also, I don't believe the U7135 can be upgraded. From the way it appears, you're SOL.

Like Mike Levy said. Custom tunes have the VIN embedded in them. The DS tunes that come with the unit are generic. You mate the unit to your car and it puts your VIN in the DS tunes when you download them to the car.

I'm not aware that anyone has cracked the Predator. I'm just taking a wild guess that this guy thinks that he will be able to load a new/different CROM to unlock/reset it? I suppose it wouldn't hurt to let him try... then again it's really not hard to restore the original backup to return the car to stock and reset the predator and supposedly he didn't get that right.

If the used price + $150 is still worth it to you send it to DS to reset it (it will still have the supplied DS tunes when they return it). Otherwise I'd get Jerry to give your money back.

hes not trying to "crack" it...hes saying he can reload the original stock tune back to the predator from his computer since he sold his jeep.

He cannot do that. It won't work. He needs to return the stock tune to the truck, not the Predator, to unlock it.

Yeah, this is not going to work.....I am still looking into whether or not we can offer you an unlock for a fee, but after you spend $150 on an unlock, how much will you have invested in this used Predator that has no warranty?

BUY NEW!!!!

Simple, return it to the guy who should not have sold it to you in the first place.

He is the one that failed to restore the backup, so he never should have sold it to you.

Get your money back and but a new tool, you will be sooo happy you did.

ARG!!! someone hit me in the head with my expensive blue paperweight please! lol

Nothing wrong with buying used. It just looks like you got ripped off. Get on the Mustang and Jeep forums and ask him about it there.

I have approval to offer unlocks for $99, just need to set the procedures in place.
