Can't tell if tuned or not

Post by wilkie414 »

Predator part number 114645 (the only sticker on the back with numbers)
Revision V.7r50d
98 Mustang GT

Bought the car from my dad - he's had the car and the predator tune installed for quite some time but I know he's had the car serviced at the dealership. Reasonably sure he didn't load factory tune before having it serviced.

Unsure if current tune is predator or dealer-flashed. Last tune written says diablosport (or something like that, I know the factory wasn't re-installed). I remember dad saying something that the cooling fan ran constantly when the predator was installed - this does not happen. I cannot remember this happening since I've bought the car from him. Anyway I can check if current tune is pred or dealer-flashed?

Second question - Living in NV, 93 octane not available. It says to retard spark by 10% in 'spark advance' of 'modify tune'. I would assume .1 menu reading = 10% mentioned, but I want to be sure. Also - 10% from current position or 10% from middle of menu? I would assume from current position. Thank you for your time.

10 to 1 the Preditor is still in performance mode on the ecu and you can check by going into custom tune from the 93 octain tune your running. 2nd the .1 is correct meaning 10%. You could always go to a 91 octain and its not much difference.

Have you tried to install a tune into the car from the predator? If the predator does not recognize the tune in the vehicle has being a stock one it will display a message that the vehicle possibly already has a tune on it.

Phil - Have not tried to install tune from Predator, and upon further discussion with my father he is certain it has not been overwritten. Common sense would tell me when it breaks the wheels loose shifting into second with a 3.08 rear end, that yes, the predator program has not been overwitten. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

TJFT - Thank you. I figured as much.
