Reposting a log and tune....

Post by mpomario »

I ran this yesterday and is only the log downloaded from predator. I am not sure if there is enough information here. If you look at my other post from the Motorplex you will see the same AF mix. I think I am running a bit lean in 3-4. What do you guys, think? Here's the tune and the log from my 2005 RT Magnum with air raid CA, and 93 CAI tune with increased firmness. Any suggestions?

How do you figure you are running lean in 3-4? Are you using a wideband, if so what does it read there?

In my other log from my laptop, my AFR got as low as 10.75 at one point. I thought that was a bit lean. I am learning.

10.75 is rich, lower values are rich and higher lean.
Does this happen after a full pass starting in 1st gear?
If so it could just be your cat overtemp protection kicking in.

So 14.75 would be lean? That was the other end and it usually is at that level when at idle.

14.7 is stoich, the pcm will adjust to that during idle and cruise.

I believe you're also looking at "commanded" AFR (what the PCM thinks/would like it to be) and not actual AFR. They could differ.

Looking back at my original log, from my other post, this makes complete sense that the low numbers indicate rich and lean with higher. It looks like it hovers right around 12.00 +/- .75 or so all through WOT. It kinda fattens up when going from 3rd to 4th gear which is the over temp protection you are referring to? This occurred at the end of the 1/4 mile after I let up.

You guys do great work. Coming from a guy that was used to tuning cars by ear, nose and eye. It sounds like it is running great and smells like the mix is good. I just want to understand as much as I can and make some connections between how I used to do things and how they are done nowadays. These tools make it interesting again to tool around with modern cars.

Now that's funny. I used to rev it up a touch and turn the dist. until it sounded "just right". That was always 14 Degrees advance with a timing light at idle (perfect). Carbs were feel and read plugs.

I remember those days! No codes. If it didn't run right it didn't take too much to figure out the problem.
