What does a "Catch Can" do, totally new term for me. Worth it for me to install it?

Yes, do it.
They catch the oil that your stock PCV system sucks up and keeps it from getting in your intake.

It should be noted that oil in the intake doesn't only make a mess but if it makes it's way to the cylinders it promotes detonation.
Definitely install one.

Installed my BT Catch Can last week. My STKR has gone from 3 - 4 degrees to a respectable (and repeatable) 1.5 degrees -- and the can has already collected a slight film of goop in the bottom.
You can't go wrong with a catch can. If nothing else, it looks cool.

The 6.1L will collect about 10 ml or more every 500 miles.

I had a Billet Specialties Catch Can on my Challenger and it was causing a vacuum leak and throwing a High Airflow Error and messing up my Electronic Throttle Control. A quick restart fixed it every time but it was still a pain in the ass so I took it off.

Try a decent company next time. Billet Technology is my choice, but plenty of guys also use the Elite Engineering and others.
If there was a vacuum leak it wasn't sealed properly or the hoses weren't tight. Neither is a big deal. Better to fix the minor problem with the can then have to deal with a major one.

I have been reading lately alot of info about catch cans and was wondering if there is anything I can do for my truck. The pcv valve is built into the TB and there doesn't appear to be a hose going to or from anywhere around pcv valve. Any help on this subject would greatly be appreciated.

I don't think there's any way to put a catch can on that since everything's inside.

Yeah our friends at BT have looked into this and there really isnt any way of installing a catch can on them, they do need em just like the car 5.7 motor, which kind of sucks.

A catch seems like a good thing to have and yes that sucks that we cant put them on our trucks. Thanks for the info.

Why cant they be installed on trucks? They just go between the PCV and Intake port correct?

It's because both the PCV and the intake port are "inside" the engine. Nothing is external (like the hose from the PCV to the intake port)

Well worth installing and here's basically what it does.
It "catches" the atomized oil droplets that are in the positive crankcase ventilation airflow coming from the crankcase via the pcv valve into the intake. The purpose of the pcv system is to remove that flow from escaping into the atmosphere and instead to burn it in the engine. (Old engines had crankcase "breather" caps, venting out into the atmosphere).
The catch can captures the oil from that flow and stores it in the can (to be dumped every oil change along with the other old oil).
Keeps gunk out of the intake manifold without harming the environment!
