Overwritng a NON Predator tune

Post by abqz06 »

I have a 2007 Z06 and the 7194 Predator. The stock tune has been saved in the Predator and the Predator tune has been loaded in the vehicle, so the pair is "married". Later a tune was loaded into the vehicle via HP Tuners. I want to run the Predator tune. I do not have access the the HP Tuning device.

So, my question:

Can I use the Predator to overwrite the nonstock, nonPredator tune in the vehicle? Can I do it directly, or should I reload the stock tune from the Predator, THEN load the Predator tune.

Confused in ABQ.

oooh, that could be trouble...

you should have restored the original backup BEFORE you got a HP/dyno Tune installed...

No problem.
Just use the Predator to restore the backup file, and all will be well.

Thanks

really?? the user manual for mine says that doing that or applying a tune to a non-factory tune could cause severe engine damage...

If it has a non factory tune on it now, then we restore the factory tune over it, we are back to square one with a stock tune on the PCM and a reset Predator.

Thanks, Mike!

One more question, could I use the Predator to copy the existing nonstock, non Predator tune and export it to my PC?

Yes, but that would be the new 'backup' file.
