Format Failed Message During Tune

Post by 08SierraDenali »

Predator Part # U7194
Version 9r07
Vehicle: 08 Sierra Denali AWD all factory

Just purchased predator tuner and went to install the diablo tune on truck. During the original backup process it gave me a message right after the 100% complete bar that said "Format Failed" then you can click close. It pops up two or three times after you click close each time. Then it gives message that original factory backup complete. Gives no error codes or anything. I continued and installed the diablo tune and it proceeded to give the same message two or three times in a row before and after the 100% complete bar passed. It then gave me the message that diablo tune succesfully installed on vehicle and turn vehicle off now. Everything works on the truck still as it did before the tune so everything seems to be fine. The truck although does not feel any different from the factory tune. If any performance gain it is minimal. My question is, what are these format failed messages and should i worry about them. Any help would be much appreciated. Also when the tuner is connected i have everything turned off in the truck and all electronics disconnected as told to do so. Thanks!

i have the same truck....i could not really feel any noticable added performance......these trucks are pretty quick stock....... it did help my gas mileage a tiny bit. i am on the 9r05 crom......waiting to install the new 9r07 after bugs are fixed. i could not get my pinging to stop on the performance tune...i had ran logs several times ...it needed no furthur ltft's changed but still pinged so i put it back on 87 tune. either way...i cant even break the tires loose. i assume the awd takes away alot of power. .good luck w/yours i use 91 octane..its highest i can get here in okc......maybe my ping was poor gas octane.....i also removed my cai. to lower the cab noise when pulling my travel trailer.l havent tried the performance tune since removing my cai and going back to stock intake.

After driving the truck for a sold day after the tune i do notice a considerable difference in performace and mileage if i can keep my foot out of it. One thing i did notice and do not know if this is result of the tune or me being paranoid, is that the truck rides a hell of alot rougher. I do not know if the tune messes with the stabilitrak or not as i did notice as the tuner was hooked up that the stabilitrak tuned itself off. I do not know how to tell if it is currently on after the tune or not though. As for the pinging, if i WOT it, it pings extremely bad at the higher rpms. Sounds terrible. Im running 93 ExxonMobil gas in it too. I still am not sure if the format failed messages during the tune are screwing anything up as i have researched like crazy and have found no one with this problem before.
