Great instructions but lousy results. I tried to get a custom tune for new generation hemi i have installed in 1967 Dodge Dart with some engine modifications. Modular Depot will not touch it for less than $500.00 as minimum and probably lots more. Advertised price of $125.00 is not available to those of us seeking maximum performance. I was told stock transmission controls of the computer for my applicatation cannot be modified. Strange, the one I have from B&G Chrysler Specialists has transmission controls modified. This stuff of super high prices and uncooperative greedy vendors is driving me back to distributer and carbs. Think I will give the Chipkillr offered by Arrington Engines and Crane cams a try with couple of Edelbrock carbs. If this does not work out either a 440 or 426 real hemi will.

i strongly suggest you look for another shop to do your tune. the software should not be a problem.

Are you using a PCM from a trruck or a car?
If it came from a car, the B&G flash does not affect the trans either, you have to send out the TCM to get trans tuning, and it is truly expensive ($1200).
If it is a truck PCM, any CMR dealer can have access to the trans controls unless it is a 03-04 truck PCM.

Controller is from 04 truck and B&G tune slams shifts. Reminds me of my 67 street hemi shifts. If 05 or other year controller can do the job I am willing to make a change. The modified tune I have installed with Diablo is good. Failure to change transmission is disheartening. So no confusion, I have controller with B&G tune and another with diablo tune of my choice. I'm just about to the end of fooling with computer engines. First consideration will be Chip Killr and if that is not a positive possibility I will be going back to the good old 426 hemi or 440 with distributor and carbs. I know how to make that system work and not pay excessive unreasonable prices for so called specialty tunes that just really don't work. So called experts but experts only by self claims. I'm going to look further into possibility of other year controllers first.

This is pretty awesome is there any plans on doing a video for data logging, and what to and what not to data log?
Maybe how to adjust your canned tune for certain mods. Like headers, exhaust etc...
I live in Sicily and as far as I know of there is no dyno on the island to get a custom tune done up.

Kinda sucks they sell these tools without the latest info loaded on them(and don't keep current with manufacturers info either). Guess they sell alot of power supplies and usb/serial adapters for more than they're worth... Power Supply is 12V 1Amp positive center pin.. I found an old "wall wart" supply that has that rating and works fine.

Yea. They should probably only sell them direct from the factory. Wait until an order comes in, load the unit with the latest CROM, tape the box and ship it. Sending them to distributors and retailers ahead of time really sucks....

Heh, you could be the poster boy replying to the dozens of threads griping that the power supply and usb/serial are sold separately.

First off, sorry for continuing a hijacked thread...
When I open the box(no matter where it came from), I expect the tool to work. Including the cables would be the way to do it. You don't buy workboots and then pay extra for laces. Just should work outa the box.

Right... I thought you just complained about their price on the power supply and cable. So they sell the cables separately giving you the option of buying your own at RS or Kmart. Everything the tool needs to operate is in the box.
As for the information. Have you ever purchased a PC? Like with windows on it? I just got 2 new Dells. One with windows XP and the other with windows 7. Plugged them in and did windows update. Guess what? There were a bunch of updates for both. You see the similarities don't you? How would you propose doing it? New calids are coming out all the time. The Predator supply pipeline from factory to distributor to retailer has got to be months. If you want a retailer to log on to DS and update each handheld with the particular CROM that matches the individual customer's car (and 99% of the customers aren't going to know what their calid is in the first place) you're probably going to pay at least $100 more for the tool.

Everything you need is not in the box. Alot of times you plug in the tool and it says you need to upgrade. This requires you toget the additional hardware. Now you need to chase it down just to use your brand new outa the box tool.
As for your Windows comparison... You can do those updates without any other additioal hardware.
All in all I think(and you know what opinions are like), it sucks getting a brand new relatively expensive tool home and finding out you need yet more hardware to get it to work.
