I have been running the C&L Racer tune with a C&L racer CAI for about a year. I went to have emissions done on my car in Pennsylvania and the OBD reported that the vehicle is not ready for testing. I know such things as MIL and O2 sensors said not ready for testing when the mechanic hooked up his diagnostic computer to the car. The mechanic asked if my battery had died which may have reset my cars computer, and I told him no, but that I had put a tune on the car. He was not of any more help. I tried putting the stock tune back on the car, and drove for 100 miles, which threw the check engine light (which fails emissions anyway). The car runs horrible with a stock tune and the C&L racer CAI. I reinstalled the Racer tune. Is the C&L tune turning off stuff within my OBD that is causing this problem? I need to get my OBD to be ready for emissions testing. What do I do?

Fastest thing is to reinstall your factory air box and factory tune then drive the vehicle like you did before. Other than that, you will need a custom tune to re-enable the obd readiness monitors.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. The factory airbox is stored at my parents, about 100 miles away. Guess its a good excuse to visit them.

cars fault that all the time in PA, I have a VR6 Jetta and a Mazda 6 and both coul not communicate with the computer, they passed it anyway, you should have played dumb......

Please read my previous post...Im in pittsburgh, pa and had the same issue. Just complete the drive cycle and you will pass.

So you are saying that the Predator tune for the C&L CAI does not affect any of my sensors or OBD readiness and that as long as I drive the Drive Cycle, the mustangs computer should be ready for testing?

Cause, I literally drove thousands of miles on the tune before I brought it in for emissions, though I never specifically drove a drive cycle. But i would have expected after thousands of miles, enough data would have been achieved by the computer to indicate readiness, yet it indicated not ready.

I tried to go back to stock tune with CAI on, and now I am back the the Predator tune,and have drove over 200 miles the past couple days on the tune. I have no error codes including no P1000 code, but according to their handheld computer reader, the car is still not ready.

I still have a couple days before I can drive home to reinstall the stock airbox and stock tune. If I can get it to pass before that time, it will save me a lot of driving.

I believe so. I had the exact code and problem at inspection. After going through the drive cycle the P1000 code was gone and I passed the inspections. It can't hurt to try it....it's free. lol Hope this helps.
