u7153 fuel adjustments

in the WOT parameter on the U7153 for a 2003 ford f150 with a 5.4l which way do you adjust the fuel to make it run richer? I know it has a plus and minus but i heard you have to adjust them opposite of what you might think. Can you give me some help please, also if you make it too rich what will I notice when driving?
