2009 SRT8 Knock at WOT

Post by jara97 »

Predator Part Number #240311
Revision v.9R18
2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Auto
Datalog shows .5 KNK ST & Fuel Retard with the 93 CAI Tune with to my knowlege good quality BP fuel. I can run 91 CAI Tune with zero knock but car seems more powerful with 93 CAI Tune. What adjustments can I make for the 93 CAI to dial it in. Log attached

Thanks,
James

Did you hit a bump at that moment? Sometimes a false knock can be recorded when the car gets bounced around a little. Try again and see if it happens in or near the same place.

Jara, it is not clear you were testing at WOT. You should try to log the following: KNK ST Retard, RPM, PTC PTL %, ACT SPK Cyl 1, less important is vehicle speed and some of the other items. But with those minimum items you can verify that you are at 100 throttle (WOT) and then can look at the ST knock retard that is based on the sensors picking up any knock. If you have some knock then when we add fuel it is only at WOT and not partial throttle. If you were at WOT...your log looks pretty good, there is only that one momentary ping. From everything I have read, that is okay. Like Cruisin said that could have been anything.

I see that you must not have changed your thermostat yet since your engine temperature is 206 degrees. It is a cheap change to add a 180-185 degree thermostat (see many other posts on this). That change will also help your performance and for very little cash.

Can someone help here? He logged everything, but in this version where is the throttle position PID?

FYI Jara, I have logged different types of gas in our area and that same gas you are using seems the best. That is in my car right now.

Thanks for all of the information as I am a rookie at this stuff. The 91 CAI Tune never shows any knock whatsoever so maybe I should just go back to that one although car seems more responsive with 93 CAI Tune. I was at WOT for a brief moment and thats when it pinged up with the knock which I guess is okay.

I will log again this evening if I have time and see what I come up with. I ordered the thermostat today and appreciate the advice.

Before you log, choose the Defaut_DCX_07 dashboard from the dropdown. That will have everything in it for us to be a little more helpful
