Shifting/Torque Mangement

Post by gossard278 »

I have read on other posts about torque management and shifting using the Predator. I am wondering if there are other things I can do to increase the torque of my truck with the predator. I currently have the Diablo tune installed and the truck feels sluggish, especially starting from a dead stop. I run 91 octane fuel. Also, I cannot spin my tires at all. I feel it has to do with the transmission limiting the slip of the wheels but want to change that. Any suggestions?

depending on the software version on your predator, you can manually remove torque management. I recently learned that the newer software versions have the torque management already removed from the tunes while the older versions gave you a on/off setting for it.

The next thing to do would be to do some datalogging or data monitoring (again depending on your hardware and software version) and using the free dslogredux software for fuel and timing recommendations. Most users find that there is a little more fine tuning that can be done to the diablo tunes to get them just perfect. Check out the stickies on this forum for more in depth information about refining the tunes a little more for your truck.

what revision is your predator on?? is it a newer one on a 9rxx revision?? when it boots up and is at the main menu, there's a number at the top of the screen... that's the revision number...

if it's an older 2.xx revision, there are 3 TM settings you can adjust - turn off the first two, but leave the 3rd one alone...

if it's a newer 9rxx revision, then there is only 1 TM setting you can adjust, because those first two are already turned off in the tune, so just leave that one setting alone...

and as concoursd mentioned, get your LTFT's dialed in by getting your injector slope adjusted correctly: http://diablosport.com/index.php?name=P ... opic&t=917

other than that, you could get a custom tune to get more out of it...

Sorry, been busy and didn't realize that there was a response to my post.

Anyway, I have the latest 9r07 version installed. I have the LTFT's dialed in (or at least I did a few months ago, I haven't done much for a while) so I should be good on that. So it sounds like I'm set since I shouldn't touch the last torque setting in the tune.

Other that the Supercharger recommended by ayev8r, are there any aftermarket transmission items I could install? I've heard that the stock torque converter in the Allison transmission is good, but for real power I need to get a different one.

As for a custom tune, what exactly would I need to send to DS? Stock run and tuned run or just vehicle specs?

And I also agree with you. We need TCM!!!

Thanks for your responses guys.

Thanks for the info. I'm just a bit worried and upset that the U7193 doesn't do WOT's so I'm not sure if there are certain things that I just cant get changed/adjusted. Anyway, I'll probably get a custom tune anyway since I'm tired of the wierd reactions of my truck with the different tunes. Who knows, maybe there is an engine issue that DS can find for me.

Thanks again.
