need vista help

version v.9r04
2007 dodge magnum sxt
the usb to serial cable will not work in vista. i go into the device manager and click on the cable it has a code 10 in the box. works fine with xp but im trying to do a write up for a friend that uses vista on how to update the predator. help plz.
i am running 32bit vista
