Why does this tuner only have a performance tune and not the 87 octane tune? It's brand new and it's from Granatelli. There is no other option but the performance tune. It's for a 2001 6.0 2500HD.

So it appears it's an older version and needs to be upgraded. WTF! It's brand new and now I have to pay to upgrade it? That's some BS.

when it boots up and is at the main menu, there's a number at the top of the screen... that's the revision number... what is it?

It's 1.03. It's a brand new unit. That's why I didn't buy a used one. It must have been on the shelf for a while.

I guess I'll just wait until the 87 octane is gone and then fill with 93 and use the performance tune.

blazer8, Granatelli Predators were private labeled Predators sold by Granatelli. The supply relationship between DiabloSport and Granatelli ended about 2005. So your "brand new" predator is about 4+ years old.

I would return that sucker immediately for a normal diablosport branded predator. The new GM gas predators have newer hardware and use a 9Rxx software version numbering system. This means that at the top of the menu screen of the Predator, you will see 9Rxx, where the xx is the revision number. The newer predators have internet update ability for future upgrades, data recording, more tunes as you are finding out, and can hold multiple custom tunes.

Seriously, I cannot believe that the granatelli units are still floating around as brand new. Granatelli makes their own tuner now called the Fuego. They have been making it for the past few years after the relationship with DiabloSport ended.

WOW!!!! 1.03???!!!! holy craaaaap!!! daaaamn... yeah, first mistake was buying from granatelli... diablo doesn't even make them for granatelli anymore....

you need to return that to them ASAP...

I think I'll keep it. I got a really good price on it and it is brand new. I will probably use it more for the timing advance and shift management more than anything. If I feel the need to upgrade, I will.

on that old 1.03 revision, the tunes are not as good/well done as they are on newer versions, and there is less adjustability with it than there is in a newer one as well...

but, whatever...

I would return it and get my money back, then buy elsewhere... concoursdirect.com at the link I posted above has the best deals on them (only 299)... and it's the newest version that lets you save data logs, do internet updates, etc etc...

you're hurting yourself by trying to use that old version... especially with those old tunes that are in it...

remember blazer, the upgrade fee for old GM Gas predators is $99. So your older style brand new predator is worth $99 less than a current version brand new predator.

But, if it works in your vehicle without needing an update, and you dont mind holding the Predator in your lap and looking at the screen during datamonitoring and driving, then you are cool.

I got it brand new for under $200. I'm going to fool with if for a while and then see if I need the upgrade.
