Reseting Predator to Factory Defaults

Post by [email protected] »

Hi there - I bought a U7145 Predator second hand from a friend of mine. He used it to restore his factory settings on his 2008 Mustang GT before I got it, so it is unlocked and it does allow me to access the tuning menus etc. i have also upgraded it's firmware to the latest version 9r03.

My car is a 2009 Mustang GT and is currently absolutely stock. I have a Steeda CAI which I am going to be installing soon, which is why I bought the predator.

I am trying to buy a tune from Bamachips, and they have asked me to supply the original backup tune from the predator. The thing is, I have only plugged the predator in once or twice to check it works, and have no idea if it will have taken a backup of my original tune automatically, since it is second hand and been used before. However, I think I'm right in saying that when you buy a new Predator, it takes a backup automatically when you first connect it?

If this is true, I'd like to return the Predator to the factory default settings with no memories of the previous car. That way, I can plug it in, and be sure that the original backup tune that I send to Bamachips will be the correct one from my car.

Can anyone help me on how to return it to default factory settings as if it was new and erase the stored tunes from memory? Or confirm that regardless of it's memories, or previous use on other cars, it will take a backup automatically when connected to a different car?

Thanks,

Jeremy.

Have you tried installing a tune? When I used mine for the first time, it backed up the original tune when I installed one of the performance tunes on the Predator.

Hi DE - well, no I haven't...mostly because I need to get the new tune from Bamachips before I'm at that stage. I don't want to install one of the tunes that's already on the Predator because they were done for a different car, albeit the same type...but I don't know how much variance there is between cars so didn't want to risk it.

k... if the ford predators work anything like the GM ones do, you can hook up the predator to the car... select a diablo tune to install... it will make the backup of the original stock tune, then will put you at the Install tune / Modify Tune menu...

at that point, unplug the predator from the car without installing the diablo tune...

you now have the original backup stored in the predator, without installing the diablo tune.

follow the instructions for your model predator on how to export the original backup tune from your predator to your pc...

can find instructions here on your 7145 download support page:
