Why can't you set up your layouts/gauges without being hooked up to the car????????

RE: SUGGESTION

because it doesn't know what parameters it will have available to it without querying the vehicles pcm first....

for example, you can't very well setup a gauge for catalyst temperature bank 1 if your pcm does not have a sensor nor report the catalyst temperature on bank 1...

so, it has to connect to the vehicle, then query the pcm to see what loggable parameters it reports and has available, and then you can setup the gauges for those parameters....

not all vehicles report all of the same parameters, and older vehicles may have a different name for a certain parameter than newer vehicles...

What does DASHHAWK do when does NOT find a pre-selected parameter when querying the ECU?

I 'believe' the DasHawk has preloaded PID lists for each vehicle, and that they are generally standard OBDII pids.

That would be great....we have winters here in NY :) and not all have heated garages

With that "other brand" if you select a PID that is not valid for your setup it just does not work, do it over. It's very convient to sit in the house and do your customizing then go to the car to check it.

I would rather have an accurate list of PIDs that just selecting them and hoping they work. My car has a heater that works quite well in the winter. There are far more important things than making this change. cough SERIAL INPUTS cough...

Why in teh hell would you want to screw with building dashboard or gauges while sitting in the car ? It is lame. The trinity knows what car it was last plugged into and you should be able to store a valid PID list to the unit so you can build the gauges as you like away from the car.

The serial inputs would sway me to get a trinity if it could log my SSI-4

Are the seats in your car made of wood or what? Seriously, it takes at most ten minutes to create a dash.
The apostrophe does not mean "Look out, here comes an S"!

"I couldn't care less" means it is impossible to care less - "I could care less" just makes you look stupid.

Nope, I have really comphy seats in my car, I don't like fidding with crap while in the car. and being about to build many dash board while away from the car or uploading them to the trinity from the computer would be a better use of my time.

I'm with Rob.

On the other, I couldn't give two shits about the serial inputs. I want the SD Support.

That's lame, my seats are plenty comfortable to sit in. Now, an application that runs on the computer that allows you to create a dashboard would be pretty sweet.

SD support for what? The 1 gig of space in the Trinity isn't enough? Not to mention that in order to get something on the SD card you have to bring it to a computer, so what difference does it make if you bring an SD card or Trinity to the computer? Not to mention when they first started this whole Trinity program they listed serial inputs as already being supported...
