Whats this "ECKS error" I'm getting?? (Lew?)

Anyone (Lew?) Trying to do some data logging on my U7194. It has a "Watch & Record" option, which displays the "realtime data". But when it says "log full", and I back out to try to "record/Log" the data ...it doesn't ask me if I want to "save", "yes or no" like Lew's instructions say? Instead, when I select "log/record data" ...it gives me "ECKS error", and tells me to "reboot" the tool.
Is this normal? How do I save a file to dump to the PC?? It seems I'm following the directiions, but it's not giving me the options I expect to see come time to save the data to the tool.

Well lookie here... another person with the ECKS Fatal Error!
I asked what it was umm... a month ago? No response...
If your Predator still works though, consider yourself lucky! Mine slowly faded away after I got that error.

hmmm... dunno what that error is....
when you go to log, and the log says it's full, you just need to press the ESC button a few times to get back out to the main menu....
try updating to the latest revision, as I know they fixed a logging issue for the 7194 recently...

Oh No! With all the "ECKS fatal errors" I've been getting lately, I bet my predator is doomed for sure! It still worked with the last update and uploaded the tune to truck, but other options such as log graphing and log playback are definitely "ECKY"...
I have still been able to use Dataviewer to get the "very short" logs from the tool to PC.
Five-0, I think that was your question...how to get a log from tool to PC. The log is automatically saved in the tool. You have to download Dataviewer from the site here and use that to view and save your logs to computer. When you plug the tool into PC and start Dataviewer, it will automatically search for and communicate with the tool. With the U7194, the logs are soo short that they're useless so many folks use Dataviewer on laptop and Predator hooked up to vehicle while logging and go directly to PC with the log. Hope this helps...

Well, the tuner works fine (it has the latest revision on it 09-r10). I even made some adjustmaents to the LTFT's ...what a difference! But it's like "Nodaker" says ...I'm only getting 3-4 minutes at best of "data logging" before it says "log full". Then there is no option that asks if I want to save the log to the tool. However, it seems to be doing it automatically.
I haven't tried to put the data on my laptop yet (got to get a USB cable today).
Anyway ...the "ECKS error" does'nt seem to be hurting anything, the tuner is still cranking out more horsepower the more I tweek the ecm with it! I'm going to try some more logging today.

yeah, the 7194's have a short logging time... that's normal... they don't log for 20 mins. like my 7191...
and 3-4 minutes is GOOD!! they used to only get 1.5 minutes... heh...

Lew ...there are about 4 menue options that pop-up when the tool has completed logging "live data". Two of the options (don't remember the exact language?), that "imply" saving/recording the data to the tool. Select either of those options and I get the "ECKS fatal error", and it prompts you to "re-boot" the tool. However ...the logged data seems to save to the tool automatically, regardless.

sounds like that's to start recording a NEW log... but since the log is already full, you're getting the error...
when you first start to record a log, what is the process you go through? what menu options are there and what do you select?

diognostis l live data l watch&record l ....it does its live data display for a few minutes. Then when I get "log full" ...I press the "center button" per your web instructions to get to the "save data yes or no" options. However ...those options are not there. I get those other four options, two of which imply saving/recording the data. try selecting those ..."ecks fatal error".
I'd have to run it again to remeber in detail the menu options that come up. But like I said ...I can take the tool out of the truck, plug it to DC, and "re-play" the data.
Lew ...do you happen to have a part number for a usb cable from radio shack? Which drive do I install for that usb cable. I run VISTA

aaah...
after it says log is full, just press the ESC button to get back to the main menu.... then unplug the predator and you're good to go...
then you can download the log to your pc...

yeah, if you read my info, it says:
"you'll get a notice on the Predator screen that says the "log is full". click the center button to select "continue", hit the
ESC button until you're back at the main Predator screen, then unplug it from your OBD port."
ESC button, not center button...

yeah ..I guess I assumed that when I hit the center button to acknowledge that "continue" and it gave me those four options ...I was commited to selecting one of them. I'll do the esc thing today. Although it "begs the question" ...what is the purpose or funtion of those two menu options?
Thanks again Lew

You might be fine, as the OP seems to be. But my predator no longer has logging options at all, and now it is incapable of tuning. Thankfully I have some time off at the end of next week to try a forced restore so I can re-update the predator and hopefully cure it of its ailments...
If that don't work, I guess my Predator is done and I'll have to be done with it as well. Unless they're going to give me a Warranty Extension anyway. My warranty ended just a short time ago, heh...

Poetique,
Sorry to hear your Predator is giving you issues. Despite the "ECKS Fatal Error" I've gotten on my Predator ...everything seems to work fine. I actually just completed a logging session ...downloaded the data to my laptop, and played with the data and did some tuning.
I hope yours resets for you man
