Spark Advance?

I did some logging yesterday to adjust my LTFT's. After logging the data I stopped by my dads house to crunch the numbers and re-tune the car. I was showing everything to my dad who is an old school engine builder, or at least used to be and he was asking me about the spark advance. My log showed an average of 49 degrees for an average at cruise. Now if memory servers me write, the old 70's V8's ran around 35. So am I correct in telling him that the 49 degrees we saw with Dataviewer is the same as what he and I remember from the old days?
Thanks

yee-ha!

Yeah, no more testing different springs to get the mechanical advance dialed in at the right RPM and then like 36-38 total.

LOL, I too freaked a little when I saw the high advance #'s on the "new" cars/trucks.
