So what does this mean, you warped your manifold due to excessive heat?

warped manifold

Post by duckslayer »

I guess that it was warped because of heat,But I don't know why it took so long to warp after 2 years ago driving over teton pass with a a 18,000 lb trailer. Then put it away this year and then the 2 back bolts broke on the manifold in my garage. One month after I put the trailer away, Just so you know that teton pass is a 10% grade up and down. The only time it has got really hot. :!:

Sounds like maybe it was put away hot and allowed to cool too quick, may want to look into a turbo timer

I was not pulling anything , not even doing the speed limit. My trailer had been put away for about 4 days

happened to me too. I just finally got them changed. Actually broke off another 2 before getting the manifold off. Once off I had to die grind the holes oval in order to get all back on. Once off the broke off bolts came out with my fingers
The hardest part to work with is that water line.

Sounds like the 2 piece ATS manifold is the way to go, I been running one for awhile now. I have reached temperatures up 1600* at times, I've even cracked my turbo housing, thus replaced it with a 13SS.

the AFE stainless 1piece unit is quite nice and VERY reasonable if you shop around. I paid 420 shipped and its SEXY! I cant wait to get it hot and see it turn a little colorful :)
