Mercedes AMG 55k
Mercedes AMG 55k
Hello, I understand that you have a future release product for the 55k platform. I would like to find out any information you might have and what kind of expectations there might be with this product? Is there future beta testing to be done or is all complete? I'm on the fence about getting custom dyno tuning or waiting for your product, I pretty much have a fully moded E55, Headers, pulley, race exht, larger TB, water/meth injection, light porting, phernolic spacers, and large heat exchanger with a separated water tank in the trunk. My expectation on a custom dyno tune is going to be around 70 to 100 gain with the tune, do you think this reasonable gain with your product? I know there is a lot of power gained in tweaking the bypass valve for the supercharger; does your product make change to this area as well?
RE: Mercedes AMG 55k
You're dreaming. Superchargers don't make power from tuning the way turbos do. You'll see maybe 25-30hp from a tune, assuming the stock tune is conservative.
I also have serious doubts that there will be anything released for the AMGs from DiabloSport.

Re: RE: Mercedes AMG 55k
Thank you for your comments, what year is your 55k car? Its strange that you were only able to get 25 to 30 hp from your car, Were as just about every single tune I have seen on a stock 55k car starts at about 40+ hp gain and modded cars see an easy 70+hp The last 55k That was modded similar to mine pick up 96 hp and 143 tq. So you don’t think I’m just making up stuff to fluff my post count here’s the link http://www.mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/ ... ed-pc.htmlMike_Levy wrote:You're dreaming. On one last note a member on mbword.org who works for Diablo posts about his E55 and his signature line states "tuned by Diablo" He has PM'ed me some info about the release but I came here for some more information but it looks like you have cleared up all my question with your well articulated comments. Thanks.
RE: Re: RE: Mercedes AMG 55k
I don't have a 55k. Just saying that normally supercharger tunes don't show near the power turbo ones do, because the boost can't be increased without spinning the blower quicker. Unless the bypass is computer controlled and is blowing off boost normally?
I'm very curious which Diablo employee drives an E55. I didn't know any of them drove anything other then american cars and trucks, besides Johan who used to drive a Bimmer IIRC.
I'm sure either Mike Licht or one of the other guys will tell you whats in the pipeline, but I'm not seeing it. Not with the complexity of the Mercedes ECU and what the other tuners charge.

Re: RE: Re: RE: Mercedes AMG 55k
The bypass valve is computer controled, its basicaly a drive by wire TB between the SC and the intercooller. The biggest set back on these cars is crazy high IAT temps that kills the power plus its a well know issue to have the intercooler pumps fail which also kills the power in them.Mike_Levy wrote:I don't have a 55k. The guy that posts on MBworld goes by MADGOAT, I assume by his name he also has a gto. If you google that user name and e55 you can find some hits. If your not to familure with the 55k platform its nothing short of amazing! Most guys run 12.20s stock and I know of one guy with a factory freak running 11.8 with DR's Most cars with a pulley and tune will run mid to high 11's
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Mercedes AMG 55k
I'm very familiar with the platform. Did alot of research on them before I bought my Jeep SRT8. Just couldn't justify spending the money on one after my past experiences with German cars (E39 BMW). Way too expensive to mantain even basic Germans. I'd hate to even think about what an AMG costs. Plus the mod costs are crazy high. For what heads, cam and headers costed me on the Jeep, I couldn't even get an Intake for the AMG.

We see gains of 80-100 rwhp on 03-04 Cobras and 07-up GT500s with the addition of a tune, pulley and CAI.
I would imagine similar mods on the AMGs will have similar results.
We have every intention of setting the euro tuning market on its ear in the coming year, stay tuned.

Well of course, once you change the pulley theres going to be a big gain from the increased boost.
