so i'm new to all this "tuning". i was goona build a 72' Chevelle when my wife convinced me to get the Camaro. this is my 1st hot rod with an ECM. we have the LS3 and have new Kooks LT's w/ cats, Corsa catback and a Roto-Fab CAI. so far, i've only installed the CAI.
i have a co-worker with a LS1 in a T/A and swears by hptuner.....but several dyno shops in the forums sell, offer canned and customs tunes and swear by the Diablo line.
i would go to a shop, get it dyno tuned and be happy but:
1- there's no shop closer than 75 miles
2- one GM flash and it's junk
in addition to the performance tune, i would need the rear 02's tuned out, skip shift eliminated, and am VERY interested in tweaking the competition mode/traction control/torque management ratios.
can this stuff be done using the Diablo line?
is Diablo the tuner for me and if so, which one and why?

This can all be done using a Trinity or Predator with some simple email custom tuning.

the DiabloSport is definitely what you need! at first i was skeptical and wasn't sure if it would perform up to the results you could get with a dyno tune... but for the current mods you have, a handheld programmer is the best way to go.
i considered mail order tunes, other handhelds, and getting it dynoed... my pros & cons for each:
1. Mail Order Tune -
Pros: very cheap
Cons: not user adjustable, you cannot reflash back to stock easily, it takes at least a week with your ECM in transit between you and the shop.
2. Dyno Tuning -
Pros: quickest and most powerful way to tune your car
Cons: Most expensive, not user adjustable, some shops are not as reliable as other so you don't know exactly what your getting, really only effective for heavily modified engines (superchargers, turbos, NOS, cams), not able to revert back to stock easily.
3. Handheld Tuner -
Pros: ability to revert back to stock quickly, ability to adjust parameters to your own specs
Cons: to really fine tune the engine with a programmer for different mods, it takes some time, but the end result is just as good as a dyno tune (given the types of mods you plan to do)
