Not connecting through com port - tried both USB and serial

Post by mueller68 »

Hi,

i have a Predator U7146 v.7r50d. I bought this Mustang used a little over a year ago and it had the flash already on it and the guy gave me the tool, and I'm pretty tech savvy. i'm trying to put a backup of the original car settings to my PC. I bought the diablosport u7778 which is the USB/to serial interface. I updated the drivers (tried the CD, the diablosport online drivers, and the manufacturers drivers and none have worked for me). I am on Vista 32-bit. I went online and bought a straight serial cable. I have that on COM1 and thought it would work great. Even that is not connecting. I have tried setting it to Legacy connect at 57600 and nothing works. I have checked the port in Device Manager. What else can I attempt? it just sits at "Checking COM1 for tool"

Thanks,
Mike

U7146 does not auto connect, and nothing 'happens' per se when you use legacy connect.

Once you set up the correct COM port, you go ahead and do your update or tune transfer.

Ok, well when I try to do "Get Tune File From Tool" it just sits at Initializing but nothing ever transfers.

Does DSDL indicate "Tool Found on COM1" ?
Also, you have selected Options->Legacy Connect ?

If using legacy connect, you have to go to options/custom tune/export tune, and highlite original backup, then press enter after you hit get tune from tool...

Also for the cable that is shipped here is a driver that worked for me on Vista it might work on Win 7. I know what you are going though same thing happened to me tried every Driver I could find nothing seemed to work until I found this one at a Windows forum.
