tick/rattle

went to start my truck and when i did it had a loud A** rattle to it... now im useing 5-30 royal purple and yea its done this b4 but only when i start it with the remote start! 09 gmc sierra 6.2, anybody else have this problem sometimes?? now it has only done this like 3 or 4 times since ive owned it but and its got 15,000 miles on it... but it ill go away right after start up and it quits.. it sounds like rocker rattle and im pretty sure thats what it is but its only during the winter it happens, its not hurt the motor is running fine and everything, good pressure and all, jw if anybody else has experienced the same thing tho? could it be a relay to the remote start im hearn?

Hey Tdub09,

Isn't this what they call piston slap wich is common for the vortec engines? Its supposed to be there more when its cold. Some engines have run for thousands and thousands of miles without problems with this piston slap. But i have no idea if that is what you mean.

yea i forgot bout the piston slap on those motors, but why would it only do it when i use remote start? well that aggresive anyway, it does it just enough to hear it on cold days when you start it with the key but u have to really be listenin to it.. but its weird bc its sounds just like a lifter from my experience anyway, like on an older 350 would have if they were loose.. idk im not really worried bout it bc it hasnt affected anything and it doesnt do it all the time so hopefully its nothn major i was jw if anybody else had experienced it

I always wondered what that sound was... mine has never been loud, but if you're outside of the truck you can definitely hear it.

well when i say loud i was bout 5 feet away in front of my truck and could hear it like sombody talkn to me! so thats to loud for me!! haha but all is well i guess worse comes to worse and GM WILL HAVE WORK TO DO and i will be without my truck for a few days!!!

Well maybe because with the remote start. The truck turns on more than just the engine? like your heater and airco i dont know but maybe more engine load? But since your truck is a 2009 i Guess you can go by the dealer to ask if they take a look at it? it still under warranty right? Dont forget to pull the tune out the truck

oh yea ITS VERY MUCH SO UNDER WARRANTY!!!!! i just bought it in late feb of 09 its not even a year old just has 15,000 miles on it!! and yea if i even think ima pass a dealer i dont want my tune in they can smell it when i drive by! haha.. o well like i said if it blows they can shove another one in it!! haha
