Dataview software not working for me

I wanted to check out the data reviewing capabilities of the unit prior to purchasing, but for some reason it crashes when i try to load either one of the two sample log files. It works fine for me at work, but obviously I need it to work here at home. It doesn't crash to desktop, it just sits at the loading dialog and locks up.

Any ideas?

Running
XP Pro version 2002 Service Pack 2
AMD 3700+
2gig ram
SATA hardrive
NVIDIA GeForce 7800GT's in SLI mode (tried just running one, no diff)

Found an updated video driver from NVIDIA, still no joy...

Did that because I noticed there is a video update by the dataview application just prior to showing the loading of the log file. This from my computer at work obviously.

Just wondering, is anyone running dataview with a high end NVIDIA video card? Not no cheapy card now, the $400 plus cards like i have, well had, I'm sure they are less than $300 now.

Guess diablo has no clue on whats wrong, so I'll pass on the paper weight the 7194 would be for me and get the hptuner which I have already tested on my computer.

I am running an NVIDIA 6800GT as well as an NVIDIA 5600 and the data viewer works fine. Maybe the install of the dataviewer software had an issue. Uninstall the dv software, delete the install directory, reboot and reinstall it. Also check to see what is running in the background on the PC.

Thanks for the info. Gave it a try, still no go.

Any chance I can get an older version of the software? Maybe an older version will work for me. I really want to get a tuning option, and I like the predator as an option, I just can't see purchasing when the software wont work for me, and that to me is its most important aspect in tuning properly.

If I'm forced to get a wideband recording option, i might as well go for one of the other tuning options.

thanks

The 3.1 version of the DataViewer is around the corner. There have been no interim releases to the 3.0 DataViewer because of the work going into 3.1. 3.1 fixes most of the problems that some people are seeing.

Note that you can log real-time data on the Predator just fine without the DataViewer.

Thanks, I'll hold out a little longer running rich until your new software is released.

Take a look at the new DataViewer forum at the bottom of the Technical Discussion section. A Beta download is available from there. Note that the 7194 is supported by the 3.1 DataViewer Beta. If this Download still gives you problems, I would like to work with you and try and figure out where the problem lies.

IT WORKS!!!! Great job, time to get the 7194 this week. Thank you!!

Only thing thats odd is after quiting the application, it shows up as still running in the Windows Task Manager Processes tab. If I try to restart the application it crashes with a error. But if I end the dataview.exe process still running, and then try to start, it starts up without a problem. Definitely an easy workaround, and I can certainly live with it. Great application, can't wait to get the programmer now!!

Interesting, sounds like a background thread isn't exiting cleanly. Thank you for passing that along, I will look into that Monday.
