U7165 2003 6.0 surging/shifting/cutting out problem

Post by njn415 »

I have a 2003 6.0 and leave it on the 60hp setting. I am using the r16 revision that you guys first released andI have been trouble free so far, but this weekend I was towing a lightly loaded utility trailer and began to get some kind of surging when I went up a grade, almost like I was hitting a rev limiter. It felt like the truck would not shift and the engine kept cutting out. It would not stop so I pulled over, turned the vehicle off, restarted the engine and then was able to get the vehicle shifting and running again. When I got home I put the stock tune back on, and continued to tow the trailer. At first the surging continued when I went up hills, but after about a hundred miles things went back to normal, except for the fact that my mileage is now crappy again. Please let me know what you think is going on and what you can do to remedy this situation.

I just emailed you a new tune. Please load that in and let me know if your problems go away.

I loaded in the new tune. It doesn't seem to surge, the gas mileage was excellent, but the power comes on way late. The truck seems almost sluggish at low rpms. The regular 60hp tune was much more responsive and powerful. I am not sure what was modified in order to prevent the surging, but is there any way to preserve the driveability of the stock 60hp tune with the "preventive" measures of the custom one?

Thanks for your help so far

Mike
