2000 Silverado- Removing cats

Post by coreystallings »

Predator part number-U7198
Predator revision-v.9r15
2000 Chevrolet Silverado
I am new to the whole programmer thing, I was wanting to get some info on removing the catalytic converters. Will I be able to keep the codes cleared if I do this? I was also wanting to know if I could save multiple tunes (like one for performance, one for gas mileage, and one for towing) on my programmer? Any help is MUCH appreciated.
Thanks,
Corey

to disable the trouble codes for the CAT's, you'll need to get a custom tune made for you... since that emissions code-disabling functionality was removed due to EPA regulations...

all you'd need to do is post up copies of your original backup stock tune file, and a copy of the "last tune written" which would be the diablo tune you installed to the truck.

and yes, you can store up to 5 custom tunes in your predator...

Thanks for the reply Monte........ Can I email my stock tune to one of diablo's dealers that do custom tunes for them to write a custom tune for me for mileage and another for performance, or do I have to take my truck to their shop? If so, do you know a reasonable price I should be charged? THANKS

good plan on removing the cats man. i hollowed mine out on my 2000 silverado it made a huge difference and the exhaust tone i perfect now just a little rumble in the floorboards i love it. lew (06MonteSS) can get you a custom tune for a small fee he can tell you more about it but its way worth it!! and he'll remove the trouble codes for the 02 sensors too no problem i havent had any issues with mine and it runs like raped ape love it!

Basically, you take a long pry bar and break up the material in the cats and dump it out. It's a way to fool people into thinking you have cats.
