My car is a stock 2006 Corvette. Tool Information: Part: u7194, Version: v.9r10.
My question is concerning the power supply for the Predator when downloading data to a PC. It is suggested that a 12 volt, 1.0 amp power supply is used, but from other posts I see some have used power supplies that put out 1.5 amps, and all three of my GM cars put out 14.2 to 14.9 volts as the standard operating environment, which the Predator would be subjected when doing logging runs.
Therefore, the question is what are the power ranges that the Predator can be subjected to before problems arise due to low a power input, or to high a power input that could burn out an IC?

If the Predator needs to have voltage between 9-12 volts, how would someone do live logging when the car's electrical system is putting out 14.6 volts?

is 14.6 volts actually what's coming through the obd port???
there's probably something inside that obd cable end of the predator that regulates the voltage, so that it's not any higher than it should be or needs to be...

Obviously everyone logs with their tool plugged in to their car, and obviously it has no problem operating at 14V, so....?

Do a search on "root mean square" this will answer your questions about voltage. The difference is AC and DC volts. Check

My Predator died while I was using it as it was plugged into the OBD port with car running and 14.6 volts being generated as defined by the voltage guage. The tool is now in your shop for repair. In trying to forsee and prevent any future problems with the tool when I get it back I just want to make sure that I am not doing something on my side that could be determental to the tool. I most certainly don't want a repeat of the same problem as last time.
