adjusting out knock retard at WOT
i made a log last night and saw some knock retard under WOT, so i added 5% fuel throughout the range. i made another log today and saw around half a degree until around 5k that's when i saw 1-2 degrees. i went to modify the tune and went from 5% to 7%. my question is this, am i now at 12% or 7%? did it stack 7 on top of 5 percent or just go up 2 percent?
RE: adjusting out knock retard at WOT
It doesn't stack.
The following holds for both the supplied performance tunes and any custom tunes you may have:
The Predator does not modify the tune file on the handheld. It modifies a copy of the tune file as it loads it to the car (or uploads it to your PC).
On the Predator you have tune files (multiple) and you have a change list (one).
When you go to "Modify Parameters" you are adding/making changes in the change list.
When you load a tune to the car or upload it to your pc the Predator takes the "base" tune file you selected earlier, makes a copy of it and applies the change list to it. The modified copy is what gets loaded to the car or uploaded to your pc.
That's why, when you select a different tune file, the Predator asks you if you want to "Reset Parameters". What's it's asking is if you want to reset the change list (of which there is only one). If you do not choose to reset parameters the existing change list will apply to the newly selected tune file.
So in your change list (Modify Parameters) you went from 5% to 7%. The change list now has 7% in it. When you load the tune file to your car again it will take a copy of the (unchanged) selected tune file, modify it for the 7% in the change list and load that file to the car.
It does not matter what is in the car before being flashed since it's completely replaced/overwritten.

at 5% it was almost gone, i haven't gotten a chance to datalog at 7% across the range because it started raining here. it does feel pretty beastly though with just that change.
