2007 Silverado 1500 4.8L, New Body - No performance gain!

Post by smorg »

Hello to all tuners. I have a very frustrating situation. I purchased the U7194 Predator tuner recently with the latest 9r13 update. My truck is pretty much stock except I've installed a K&N cai and removed the screen from the MAF sensor. I purchased the turner in hopes it will give me a little more boost in performance. I wasn't expecting a lot. Well, after installing the "Performance Tune" I really didn't feel any change. I'm somewhat knowledgeable in working on autos, beginner/intermediate level. As mentioned I wasn't expecting a lot from this tuner, just a little bit more throttle response and HP, but no difference. Is there something that I've done wrong or need to do. I've just spent over $300 for this thing and I can't return it. I hope someone can shed some light on this. :x

Part of the problem is your own doing. Put the screen back in the MAF, make sure it is clean and dry, MAF also.
THEN
Get it all dialed in as per: http://diablosport.com/index.php?name=P ... opic&t=917

Well, as I mentioned, when it comes to tuning, I'm no professional. However, removing the screen was not done haphazardly, but with some consideration after initially hearing and reading that it could possibly improve things. This was more like an experiment for me. A risk I was willing to take to see what happens. As I move through the world of tuning, I'm sure I will take many more risks and make mistakes. This all part of the leaning process. I'm certainly not opposed to learning from people that have progressed further in this world than I have and learned (the hard way) what not to do. However, making me feel like an idiot doesn't help, I'm a bit sensitive. :( (not really, but I can take things the wrong way depending on how they're presented). It is very appreciated for your suggestions.

yeah, like Ill_Born said... bad move by removing the screen from the MAF... that is there for a reason... removing it doesn't gain you anything, no matter what you hear/read in other forums...

so, now you need to buy a new stock MAF and get it back on there...

cuz that one now will only mess up your tuning from this point on...

Much appreciated for the replies. I figured I was going to need a new one since I screwed up when removing the screen and damaged it :normal: , oh well it's only money. You can't take it with you when you die. As luck has it, I'm an IT/computer consultant. I do computer work for businesses and one of my clients is a GM dealer. I told them what I did. They're going to hook me up with a new one at their cost :D
