u7135 No Communication

I recieved the u7137 for my '08 Dodge, plugged it in, got the PCM update.
Tried to update it via DSDownloader. Turns out after trying to install the driver for the usb-serial on FOUR different computers, not a single one will take the driver software.

I know that this is a good programmer but its disappointing to pay $400 for a product that wont work because of a simple update. =[
Any other suggestions would be appreciated. I've tried every driver known to man for the usb-serial cable.

Is there some one I could send it to for the PCM update or maybe some way to manually send it to the programmer?

Thanks,
Cody

Forgot to tell ya the usb-serial is made by Sabrent. I've tried their downloads also... no luck. It came in a box with it labeled u7778.

Ive called tech support and each time I've gotten the answer of "Install and Reinstall 'till the computer takes it"
I've given up on that idea after atleast 20 or so tries on each of the 4 computers i've tried.

There is discussion regarding Code 10 here, and using the Prolific driver:

Also, review the FAQ as additional info.

OK, Some questions: WinXP, Vista, Windows7?
Most recent DSDownloader from the website?

Try to verify what COM port the USB-to-Serial driver is using.
Also, In the DSDownloader FAQ: "Q3: Connectivity Issues - things to try"; There are some suggestions on determining the COM port. Scroll down to bottom of FAQ; There is an attachment that helps illustrate which COM port is in use:

Yes sir I do have the most recent DSDL.
Ive tried it on all those systems but Im going to stick with my Windows Vista.

Ive also tried switching com ports, it never seems to go out of range. But I've tried COM port 1 and 2.

Update: I unistalled the driver, plugged in the predator without any driver installation, and Windows automatically installed everything and that finally got rid of my Code 10 problem.

Next thing is when i open DSDL, It searches COM4 (which is what the predator is on) and cannot find the tool...

Update 2: I did the HyperTerminal Connect, and here is what text message I got from the predator on COM 4.

Predator Loader; u7137-9r04boot 07/24/2009 03:32:35 PM boot3
Press X to send a new executable.
DEBUG ser_set_baud:62 baud -> 7812
Diablosport Predator. Build u7137-9r06 12/23/2009 09:00:06 AM boot3.

Still no communication between DS Downloader and the Predator... How could that be when it communicates with HyperTerminal...

Solved my own problem.
Went out and bought a Dynex USB-To-Serial. Plugged it in, boom tool found.
Thanks for your help and takin the time for me jimb, although it turns out it was just a bad cable i was mailed.

Hmm... DSDownloader should have found predator on COM4. (Unless you still had Hyperterminal still open at same time as It would exclusively hold on to the COM port)

Anyway, good you got it working. Enjoy.

I am having the exact same problem with my 08 magnum RT, and am at the point where my u7135 v.9r27 is not seen by DSDL for my vehicle update...am I to understand that after going through all the work to get that PoS USB-to-serial adapter (u7778) to work that it is likely a hardware failure of that very same adapter even though Vista shows it functioning and it passes the Hyperterminal test? I don't want to come across as jerk, but much like everyone venting in this forum i've spent the cash and was not expecting this level of frustration (6 hour at this point on the first day of ownership). Tell me I'm not one of the many suckers w/ a $40 dead diablo adapter.
