U7198 does not power on when I plug in my vehicle! How can I tell if the problem is with my car or the unit. Its a 2000 Trans Am with 5.7L.

check cig lighter fuse...

if your cig fuse looks ok, just plug it in to another vehicles obd port and see if it powers up...
