follow up to previous LBZ predator questions...

Post by Rockrig »

When will the LBZ predator (7186) add missing features like: more boost, balance check, egr code block, and clearing of all DTCs?

These features are available on the older LLY predator and they are the reason it stands out from the rest of the pack.

At this point, I'm waiting to buy until there's a "complete" version of predator available for the LBZ.

Well we are working on the EGR block feature, and the clearing of dtc's will be in the next revision.
As far as more boost is concerned we are not planning on altering the tunes for that as the current tunes have been out for about a year with no complaints with performance or drive ability.
The balance test is a special feature in Tech2 and will not be supported in this Predator.

Thanks for the honest reply.

I understand the need to cut costs, but I'm disappointed that the LBZ version is never going to be as good as the old LLY predator.

I was hoping that an update would be released that would lower my EGT. If I'm even slightly on the throttle while running the 120 Performance tune my EGT's shoot up to 1400+ in a matter of seconds. I have no idea how high they would go as I quickly get off the throttle. I can't even accelerate moderately onto the freeway without hitting 1300 degrees, and full-throttle passes will spike temps off my gauge. I don't like those kinds of temperatures as they will melt my turbo.

Personally, I think that adding boost would lower the EGT's.

Well if I get someone who would like to try some custom tunes to raise boost levels i would be game. I do not have enough time to get a vehicle on dyno here to play around with at this time, but if i get some time free i will look into this as it seems like a feature people will want like yourself.
I would have to agree that the egt's would most likely drop with more boost.

I would be VERY willing to beta test the higher boost tunes.

I'm willing to test as well. I couldn't give you any hard numbers, but I could certainly compare the feel with the current tunes and EGT's.

For starters, I feel the 120 tune should have the off idle throttle response of the 85 tune. The 120 tune is just a bit too jumpy off the line. It's pretty hard to control the pedal for rock crawling and such.

Not sure if you have a predator but if you do I would need the original backup sent to me from it. Our tech guys could walk you through that if necessary. I would need that as i need to make custom tunes based on your original calibration.

I'll try to get one sent to you tonight after work, or tomorrow morning. I have a Predator v2.02 (I think that's the version) revision 16. I just have to find my cable to connect to my computer. It's lying around somewhere.
