so i got a predator from a buddy of mine after he had no luck using it on his 2004 6.0 . after being raped on brokerage fees from UPS getting it over the border i plug it in and turn it on .... FAIL says data is corrupt . after getting this resolved i try to load a tune on my 03 .... FAIL it says that the vehicle is not in the database and to contact my dealer for update. is this a ford pcm update or do i have to update my unit? my cal id is VXAM2N5

you need to update your unit. at the top of this website, go to support, downloads, and then choose your part number in the drop down list. all of the software and update instruction document are there to download and use.

yea you got quite an oddball one, some reallllll old stuff, software is way different then the newer 6.0 stuff. I would actually consider updating the pcm cal id if you can as there is not as much to play with as the newer stuff. But regardless, They will spin test croms on wednesday so i should have something for you then. If i can get one sooner i will try but probably not.

this what i'm working with here.. a 1985 ram D350 body on the 2003 F250 FX4

Image

as you can see it don't exactly strike love in Ford tech's hearts and 99% of them say they wont touch it... apparently it doesn't matter how many times i tell them the entire wiring harness and drive train is Ford . they still believe its a cluster f@#k.

now when it comes to flashes from them they out right refuse at some dealers and others want a ludicrous amount of money quoting some 4 hours shop time ! the flash should not take much more then an hour
