2010 challenger SRT8 Dyno results & else
I ran 2 dyno pulls today, 1 without the predator tune and one with the 93oct perf tune. My car is bone stock 2010 Challenger SRT8 auto transmission. No CAI or anything else except the predator. Results were very disappointing.
On a Mustang Dyno:
First pull - bone stock no tune
rwhp 337
Torque 343
Second pull - 93oct perf tune
rwhp 336
Torque 345
I know results would be different if I had cold air intake. but I expected a little improvement at least for now. I wonder if that is normal or not.
Also, I have put the car on the dyno mode before the the test. when I left the shop, I had both the tune and the dyno mode on the car. The car was so heavy and could barely move, and It won't shift to the 2nd gear nor get the Rpm more than 3000 which was scary. Then I have restored the tune to stock and thing are back to normal now.
I just wanna say one more thing, I knew that disabling the auto upshift is not possible on 2010 SRT8 models, unfortunately, I knew that after purchasing the part. I saw it as one of the features on the website and it was the major reason for me to buy the predator. So, it makes sense if you just mention this issue on the product page so that people can know what to expect from this product before buying it. Now even the tune does not seem to add anything, I have no idea what to do with this device.
I'd appreciate your comments on this issue,
Thanks,
Bader

Well first off your car is about 30-40 ponies under what is typical stock. On the forums most people have 360-370 stock rwhp. What were you running for fuel at test time? If the gas was bad enough, and I bet that is it, the Predator won't help a bit because that thing is pulling timing big time.
And your dyno guy was not too smart leaving it in dyno mode when he was done.
Most guys say and I agree you can't beat the automatic shifts on the 6.1 manually. I think using the autostick especially at WOT makes the shifts feel weaker.

RE: 2010 challenger SRT8 Dyno results & else
well, I always use 93oct fuel, been using this fuel since I bought the car 6 months ago. I'm sure fuel is not an issue here.
For dyno results, you are right, SRT8s usually get 360-370 rwhp on a "dynojet". I have read in a couple of forums that dynojet results are about 7% more than Mustang dyno. so if you do the math, I'll be getting about 360 rwhp on a dynojet.
I know that the guy who tested the car on the dyno used the manual shifts to get the car on the third gear, you think by just using the automatic shifts, I might get better results ?
anyway, I'm still surprised that the predator didn't add any power.

Its knocking. Read my Sticky above.
RE: 2010 challenger SRT8 Dyno results & else
Have to check spark knock!!!! With the 93 tune I bet its knocking just like Mike said. I know mine was getting over 8 degrees of spark knock with the 93 tune. Hell, mine was getting 2-4 degrees of knock with the stock tune no matter what 93 gas I used. LOL

Well we all think you are knocking...you need to log that thing. My guess is your total timing at WOT is 20 degrees or lower due to the computer pulling it off. Gas is strange, some just don't perform even if they are rated at 93 octane. Try another brand. Where do you live? Hopefully if you post up, someone in your area can give you a clue. Here in the MN area BP works better than the rest, period.
I posted the comment about the auto shift because your post indicated you cannot lock out autoshift on the 2010. Most people dyno in 4th, dyno does not measure anything with respect to gear changes.
Just to repeat, if the car is knocking so bad and the computer is pulling major timing, nothing will help produce more power. It is not the Predator's fault. Believe us, when all is well with the food you give that machine, you will like the Predator. Post up a data log with some WOT recordings, let's take a look for you.

Here is an example of a pretty good log I did recently to check my ride out. It freaked out during the 2-3 shift (she was rev'g up pretty good) but other than that, this is what you are after. In this configuration this 6.1 produces about 400 hp rwhp. FYI shifter was in DRIVE, raised shift point is selected.

RE: 2010 challenger SRT8 Dyno results & else
great guys, Thanks a lot for the help, I'm in Buffalo NY btw, I always get the gas from Sunoco, sometimes delta Sonic. I'll do the data log thing and see/post what I get, though it might take sometime cause I'm new to this kind of stuff.
I have a question about logging though. How should I drive while recording? or should I record the data while on the dyno ??
sorry if the question is stupid I'm just new to the world of mods and tuning

RE: 2010 challenger SRT8 Dyno results & else
I also agree here. Something is not right to begin with. That's pretty low HP for that Hemi. My 6.1 was also knocking bad with the stock tune. But when I hooked up the Predator and "fine tuned" the 93CAI tune, and got rid of all that knocking, the difference was amazing! "Stock out the door" I could barley get it to spin the wheels even if I turned off the ESP... Now I need new tires!LOL You can't just plug in the Predator and expect it to fix everything automatically. If you want to get the most out of it you need to read the forums, and run/post some logs so you/we know what you are working with. Also a Catch Can will do wonders if you don't already have it. If you don't have one yet and you decide to get one, you will need to clean the oil out of the intake...yes there is some in there if you have been driving that 6.1 around for a while without one. If you look at the profiles of the people who are NOT having problems with their cars you will notice we ALL run/post logs to see whats going on and what needs to be tweeked. It really helps! You can't compare your HP to others if they have done these things and you haven't, that's not fair. You will lose every time! Post a log so everyone can take a look at it, and I'm sure someone from DS will chime in if needed.
Options I,II,III-Mods: AiraidCAI w/scoop adapter,180 t-stat,Predator w/ Per93 CAI Tune,BT Catch Can&Bling,KillerGlass,CustomABS Cover,LEDGLOW&Streetglow everywhere,Custom Trunk Liner&Enclosure... I can't stop! It's a sickness!
RE: 2010 challenger SRT8 Dyno results & else
I have always had a problem with the 93 oct tune. I can not get good enough gas.I run the 91 cai tune and add 10% fuel across the board on 300c and run best time of 13.88 in the 1/4 mile. I don't think that's to bad for a stock 300c with only a cai and a diablo tune.

It is knocking and knocking BAD! You have developed long term knock retard and that is a curse you do not want. Like I said before you are lucky to have your timing to achieve greater than 20 degrees at WOT, and it hardly ever does. Peak performance numbers are achieved on these if you can get that timing into 24-26 degrees at WOT at the upper rpm ranges. Your car really does not like life at low/mid RPM's. You did one nice WOT in second gear (at 4:34 in the log) and that clearly shows what it is doing. Yep, based on this you were lucky to get nearly 340 hp. Your low and mid range torque must suck now. Change brands of gas, that stuff in your tank is not good at all. Until then, Brandy16's advice to put in the 91 octane tune is good advice.
If you were CMR tuned on that dyno, they need to give you your money back immediately.

You get that ST and LT Knock to nearly go away and you will really like that Challenger!ChallySRT8_Q8 wrote:I wanna mention something here. after having the tune on the car, I felt a difference. The car is more responsive and I can feel a bit more power, like the tires spin when shifting gears 1-2 & sometimes 2-3. Nothing different on the dyno though
