Purchased Predator from O'Rielys Auto parts, tryed to install only to find out it needs an update, then I find out that I also have to purchase a serial cable to connect to the computer. Pulled out my Mac only to find out that the down load is not Mac compatable. Got to a PC and it will not connect to tool once I have spent most of the day running around just to get this installed. Held on line for 55 mins for tech support, then call back to find out they were closed.
Have I made a mistake in purchasing the Diablo Predator? I am several hundred dollars in the hole so far and still don't have anything to show for it. Can you help.

Welcome to my world steveo. Same exact thing happened to me except I've tried updating my 7135 on two different PC's, one Vista, one XP and neither one will detect my Predator, even after following the troubleshooting tips. Right now it's just a $400 piece of plastic.

I am less than enthused. Going to have to call tech support to find out what the f@ck is going on...

Guys, this is a definite issue with the USB cable or driver not being installed, it is not a Predator problem.

Sounds like you just need to install the driver for the USB to serial cable.

You can either install it from the disc that should have come with the cable, or from the drivers we have on the Predator downloads page.

WOOHOO! I figured out the problem. I suck at computers. I handed it to my wife and 15 minutes later she said "Your thing is updated."

LOVIN IT.
