Granitelli pred is it the same?

A friend of mine has a Granitelli predator, everything works good except when he puts the 120 hp in. It causes the trans to act like it has a stall convertor and has no reverse. If he pulls it out and goes to stock everything is fine. can it be repaired by downloading over the net or does he have to send it in.
