i have a 04 6 litre. i purchased the preadator, 4inch exhaust and new intake. one day i got on my truck pretty hard and when i pulled over about five minutes later i had alot of anti-freeze on the inside of the drivers fender. i took it to a mechanic ad he stated i have a blown head gasket. i took the programmer off and drove my truck about three thousand miles and the leak quit i then put my programmer back on and the leak has not returned. is this common. i purchased my programmer in november of 06 i have not downloaded any updates what should i do and does the programmer have to be downloaded to the factory settings before i update my programmer. by the way the programmer kicks but, i love it.. thanks bryan

I also have a 04 F250 with the 6.0 diesel
I have read the anti freeze in that year truck should only be filled up to the min mark on the coolant mark, not to the max.
It was a Ford mess up. I have heard of that happening to people on stock settings too.
For more info on your truck, I suggest

Yes the expansion tank on a 6.0 is way to small compare to the 7.3 engine, we seen many 6.0 come here to our facility that leak even stock before we run the trucks on the dyno, on 06 ford started putting a sticker on the reservor which would tell you to keep the fluied level dowm alsost to a minumun, they do have head bolt problems which will lead to head gaskets but if its not doing it for now you maybe ok. the R-17 mainly deals with a none suported cal id from the 04 update from ford to correct cold start miss fires if the predator works with your truck now ,there is no need to update..

You can try these web sites but you have to search the site to find them
(search the Forums):
www.edmonds.com
www.dieselstop.com
Other sites try to charge you to view the TSB's and they are not to be found at the Ford web site. TSB's are usually only use by car repair shops.
I hope this helps you!!

I am new to this site, but, maybe this will help "pay the freight" for all the help I have gotten. Free full text and summary text TSBS are on the Ford Truck Enthusiasts Web Site. If you go to
http://www.ford-trucks.com/tsb/fulltext/index.php you will actually be on the TSB page, otherwise, go to
www.ford-trucks.com and then select the recall/tsb button at the top. You will get the choice of finding the summary of each tsb or the full text. (They will make you join the site (free) to get the complete full summary of the tsb). Hope this is of use to any who need it. thanks rc
