2009 Cadillac Escalade CAI

Post by orspg »

HAVE A 2009 Escalade with a Volant CAI, Corsa Exhaust, and Jet Mass air sensor and it's currenlty tuned with (ARGH!!) Superchip (which will removed tomorrow prior to the T1000, I know) and my new T1000 is coming tomorrow. I am really hoping that YOU folks have a CAI setting for the Escalade. Yes? What else should I look out for? I really excitied by the prospects!

first things first... GET RID OF THAT CRAP JET MAF SENSOR!!!

it does nothing for you except to screw up your tune and will not make getting your fueling adjusted correctly for the CAI easy at all!!

get rid of it, and put the stock MAF sensor back on!! and if the stock on had a screen in it, make sure you leave that in too!!!

the stock maf's are good for 550-600hp anyway, so no need to swap them out...

so, get rid of that jet maf and put the stock one back on...

then, for GM's, you can adjust the fueling yourself (unlike other handhelds, hehe) to get it dialed in correctly for your CAI...

you'd do some logging and then adjust your injector slope accordingly so that you get your average ltft's in the 0 to -2 range... here's info about doing that:

Are you serious? Get rid of the jet? That's too bad, it really woke the car up. Any way I can do WITH the jet? I don't mind fiddling with a better product (expecially since it paid for it, -yikes!_-) Thanks for the fast reply!

you will not be able to get your fueling dialed in correctly with that on there... they trick the ecm's into thinking they're running leaner than they really are, which throws off the fueling...

best bet is to get rid of it, get your fueling adjusted correctly yourself, and/or get a custom tune created specifically for your vehicle by a diablo CMR tuner...

Thank you! Ill remove it and when I get the tuners tomorrow, both fir the silverado and the escalade, ill start there. Is the link you issued with response where I need to start, or can you send me what I need for each vehicle? I'm sorry I've always dealt with plug-n-play units. This my first REAL tuner! Thanks in advance!

that link was to a thread about another guy with an escalade, and the gains that can be had with a custom tune for it...

but for now, once you replace the MAF on yours... put on about 50 miles, and then do a steady driving/cruising data log to see where your average ltft's (long term fuel trims) are at and adjust your fueling accordingly...

here's info about what you need to do that yourself...

Lew since I can't figure out how to send logs and stuff privately, I'm posting stuff here for you to see. Here is two new logs with the stuff I think you need. Let me know if you need anything else. The factory tune and the last tune written won't allow me to be attached. I'll try to find another way.
Thanks

Just a comment for anyone that is interested in using Lew for custom programming. DO IT! He's a master at making these thing runs great and he even sends you updates to your custom crom as newer thing come down the pipeline. He has done a great job on my Cadillac and the SUV hauls. Suprise alot of autos with the power and speed of that truck. He is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me and this was an unsolicited plug, also. He really is good and thanks Lew for everything!!
